Add Tension & Bust Through Plateaus The Safe, Fast & Effective Way
Resistance bands provide variable tension that increases through the movement. The further the band is stretched the more difficult it becomes therefore the end of the movement is most challenging.
Free weights provide constant resistance yet tend to be harder in the initial movement of a rep. Once you get the weight past a certain point, your mechanical advantage kicks in and the weight feels lighter.
Combining the static/constant resistance from free weights and the variable resistance from bands at the same time forces your muscles to work harder, leading to improved muscle activation and a more intense workout.
The greater the muscle recruitment and the longer time under tension (TUT), the more oxygen, water and blood are pumped into to the muscle which leads to a greater lactic-acid build up and to a fuller muscle pump.
